SheetAI vs Rows
Both are spreadsheets you can work in, and both have AI. Rows is built around integrations - pull a table from a service, refresh it on a schedule - and meters AI tasks fairly tightly on its cheaper plans. SheetAI is built around the AI: twelve functions you can fill down a column, an agent that rebuilds a sheet on request, twenty templates that already calculate, and the Google Sheets add-on included, so your existing Google files come along too.
Every figure about Rows on this page comes from their own pages, last read on 5 September 2026. Sources are listed at the bottom.

The short version
If your work starts with pulling live data out of other services, Rows has spent years on that and it shows - and if you simply want cheap seats for a team on a shared grid, its per-user price is hard to beat. But the AI is the part you are here for, and that is where the plans get narrow: five AI tasks a month on the free plan, two hundred on the $8 seat. SheetAI is the other way round - the assistant is the product, the allowance is measured in the thousands, and you also get the Google Sheets add-on so nobody has to migrate the files they already have. For AI-first spreadsheet work, we think that is the better trade.
What each one actually is
Most of the decision comes down to this, and a feature table can hide it.
A spreadsheet application built around its AI agent, plus a Google Sheets add-on carrying twelve functions and a chat sidebar into sheets you already have, and an Excel add-in with the same chat. One sign-in and one credit balance cover all three. Twenty templates ship as finished workbooks, .xlsx and .csv import and export cleanly, and every AI edit can be reviewed and undone.
A standalone spreadsheet with integrations at its centre: connect accounts, pull tables from services and APIs, and let them refresh on a schedule, with AI features for analysis and extraction on top. Plans meter AI usage in tasks - five a month free, two hundred on the entry paid seat, a thousand on Pro - and add limits on file import size, version history and API calls as you go up. It lives on its own; there is no add-on for Google Sheets or Excel.
Head to head
Shaded cell is the one we think wins that row, including the rows where it isn’t us.
| SheetAI | Rows | |
|---|---|---|
| Works inside Google Sheets | Yes - functions and a chat sidebar, included on every plan | No. Your work has to live in their spreadsheet |
| AI you can put in a cell | Twelve functions filled down like formulas: AI_CLASSIFY, AI_EXTRACT, AI_TRANSLATE, AI_SUMMARIZE, AI_SENTIMENT and more | AI features for analysis and extraction, metered as tasks |
| How much AI you get to use | 1,000 credits a month on the $20 plan, 10,000 on the $150 plan | 5 AI tasks a month free, 200 on the $8 seat, 1,000 on Pro |
| Ready-made templates | 20 built-in workbooks with formulas, formats and conditional rules already wired | A template gallery, without the AI wiring |
| Moving your existing work in | Use the add-on where your files already are, or import .xlsx and .csv | Import and rebuild inside their product |
| Version history | No saved versions yet; every AI edit is listed cell by cell and can be undone | 7 days free, 30 days on the $8 seat, 2 years on Pro |
| A real grid with formulas and charts | Yes | Yes |
| Free tier | 10 credits on signup, no card | Free plan with unlimited spreadsheets and 5 AI tasks a month |
| Live data connectors | None. You import files or paste data | Integration accounts on every plan, with scheduled refreshes |
| Cheap seats for a team | A plan per account; no per-seat tier today | $8 per user a month, or $6 on annual billing |
| API access | Not published | 500 calls a month free, 50k on Plus, 1M on Pro |
| Large file imports | Everyday spreadsheets; a browser grid has its limits | Up to 100 MB on Pro |

Their AI is metered in tasks and ours in credits, so the two columns are not one scale - but the shape of the difference is worth noticing. A team of three on their $8 seat pays $24 a month for 200 AI tasks each; one SheetAI account at $20 gets 1,000 credits and the Google Sheets add-on. If you want cheap collaborative seats on a shared grid, they are the better buy. If you want the AI to do real volume, we are.
Choose Rows if…
Integration accounts, scheduled refreshes, tables pulled straight from an API - this is what Rows is built around, and we have nothing like it. If your spreadsheet is really a dashboard fed by other systems, start there.
$8 a user, or $6 on annual billing, on a shared grid with guest access. We sell per account and have no per-seat tier today, so a ten-person team is cheaper on their pricing than ours.
They publish API call allowances on every tier, up to a million a month. We do not offer that.
Up to 100 MB on their Pro plan. Our grid is built for everyday spreadsheets, and a very large import is not the job to test us on.
Choose SheetAI if…
Rows only helps inside Rows. Our Google Sheets add-on puts the same twelve functions and the same chat into the files your team already uses, our Excel add-in brings the chat to Excel, and both are included on every plan - so adopting SheetAI does not mean migrating anything.
Five AI tasks a month on their free plan, two hundred on the $8 seat. Ours is 1,000 credits a month at $20 and 10,000 at $150. If the assistant is the reason you are buying, that gap decides it.
Write =AI_CLASSIFY once, drag it down two thousand rows, and it recalculates as your data changes. That is a different working style from asking a panel to analyse a range, and it is the one that scales with a column.
Twenty templates arrive as real workbooks - budget, invoice, CRM pipeline, timesheet, KPI dashboard - with the formulas, number formats and conditional rules already in place.
Moving across from Rows
Rows exports to .xlsx and .csv, which is all you need. And because our add-on works inside Google Sheets, you may not need to move a file at all.
- 1Sign in to SheetAI with any email address and spend the ten free credits on a real task, not a sample.
- 2Export a Rows spreadsheet as .xlsx and import it - formulas and formatting come across.
- 3If part of your work is already in Google Sheets, install the add-on instead and keep the file where it is.
- 4Rebuild any live connector as an import or a paste for now; this is the one thing we do not replace.
- 5Compare a month of real work before cancelling anything. Both have free tiers, so the overlap costs nothing.
The honest gap is integrations. If a Rows sheet is fed by a scheduled connector, moving it here means fetching that data another way. Weigh that before you switch, and keep the connector-driven dashboards where they are if it matters.

More comparisons
The same honest format, against the other tools people weigh up.
A capable add-on for very large batch jobs - but it is only an add-on. You still need a spreadsheet, and it isn't one.
A cheap, tidy =AI function for Sheets and Excel. Good at filling columns; it is not a spreadsheet and it does not pretend to be.
Already inside Sheets if your company pays for Workspace. Helpful at the edges, but there is no formula to drag down a column.
The obvious choice if your company is all-in on Microsoft and will pay for it. It is a licence on top of a licence, and it stops at Excel.
A heavyweight AI spreadsheet with Python, SQL and huge file support. Priced per seat at $29, and it only works inside Sourcetable.
Upload a file, ask questions, get charts and answers back. Good at analysis; you do not get a spreadsheet you can keep working in.
Brilliant general assistant, and it will analyse a file you upload. It is not connected to your spreadsheet, and copy-paste is not a workflow.
